Fat Tuesday's Easter 2012!

Annnd, done! Yay! No last minute Easter eve sewing for me...no hurried stressing... Well, that last part is not true. I received one of those lovely Shutterfly coupons last week for ten free cards and I wanted to do Easter ones but those coupons only last for two days. Quite honestly there was quite a bit of hurried stressing. Trying to get the skirts done, shirts bought, pictures taken, and cards designed in the one day I had left by the time I noticed the coupon in my inbox- But didn't they turn out cute and summery?

 My middle child despises dressing up so I went for a little bit more toned down and casual summer in hopes that she might wear it more than once without being forced.

The patten is the Layered Skirt Tutorial by MADE- go check out her darling seersucker version on her cutie pie Lucy- ADORABLE. Super easy and fun. I will say that while you can totally do this without a serger, the serger made it so much faster/easier/bouncier. Let's hear it for sergers!

Can I just say I adore this photo and my sweet youngest trying to cram a pink plastic egg in her mouth? Good thing they have little holes in each end- she has a VERY large mouth. Look at that forehead wrinkled in concentration while she tries to get it in...

I will keep you updated on my progress!  And I can't wait to show you a quilt I made for a friend, commissioned by her husband (so sweet) on a surprise basis (I love surprises!).  I'm getting it back from the long-arm quilting lady I use on Tuesday...can't wait!

Meet Sergio Mendez

This is a good friend of mine and Holly's...

He's a little bit moody at times, and can easily fall apart when he feels like he doesn't want to do something.....like serge.

I mean, seriously, Sergio...All I've ever asked you to do is ONE TYPE OF SEAM.  Granted, you're complicated, you have four threads to sort through like 78 times a second, and you have two needles that need to kind of be in sync with each other, but REALLY?!  I thought girls were complicated, but you are beyond complicated.

Sorry you had to see/hear/read that folks.  I often talk to machines and other things that can't possibly carry on a conversation.  I just got Sergio Mendez back from the shop, cause he was missing something on the plate (where the needles go through), and then his presser foot lever was cracked and broken.  He's a mess.  Let's just face it.

My trusty....er....not-soooo-trusty sewing mechanic got him back to me 3 weeks later, and I've been serging everything in sight.  Three weeks is three weeks too long!

So, I made a deviation from my normal quilting routine and made a couple of pairs of shorts for my little guy (using Dana's kid pants/shorts tutorial)!
